Youth and Young Adult Homelessness

Each year, a projected 4.2 million youth and young adults experience homelessness, of which 700,000 are unaccompanied minors. That means they are not part of a family or accompanied by a parent or guardian. On any given night, roughly 41,000 unaccompanied youth ages 13-25 experience homelessness. Poverty rates are higher among children than among adults and seniors. More than 1 in 5 Oklahoma children live in a household with income below the poverty line, compared to about 1 in 10 seniors living in poverty.

Transitional Housing With Support

The housing program will be a state-of-the-art facility that houses up to 10 residents at a time. Residents receive support with health and mental health needs, spirituality development, and support to achieve employment and education goals. The stability provided by Koinonia Renew empowers young people to build communities, pursue their dreams, and pave their way for successful and independent living for years to come. Supportive services are individually tailored to capitalize on each youth’s strengths as they progress toward self-sufficiency and stability. Koinonia Renew believes the close community is beneficial because the residents will be able to live around like-minded individuals who share similar struggles and challenges.
